Annemiek Visser - Supervisor Logistics

It is great to see our team excel in challenging times.

Hi Annemiek, could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Annemiek Visser, I’m 43 years old and mother to two opinionated teenagers. After a couple of commercial jobs, I moved to working in logistics in October 2005. By now, I have almost 15 years of experience in the transport industry, in various roles and with multiple commodities. Nowadays, I’m a Supervisor Logistics within the product group ‘Fat’. I’m very passionate about this line of work, as both the dairy market and the logistics business are very diverse and dynamic.

What was your motivation to start a job at Interfood?
My previous position was with H&M, at their headquarters based in Sweden. I experienced that, although I loved the work, I felt a distance and I wanted to be closer to the decision makers.

In Interfood I found a perfect combination: close to home and in a very international and dynamic environment.

What is your favorite thing about Interfood?
Besides the gym, the healthy lunches and the many activities Interfood offers, I would say being part of a team that is able to move in a flexible way to whatever the market requires at that moment. It is great to see our team excel in challenging times, like now with the COVID-19 situation.

What is your best memory of your time at Interfood until today?
I was very fortunate to be able to join the Interfood Team Weekend in 2019, after having started my job 1,5 week prior to the event. In the villa, we were with 4, all relatively new colleagues. It was so much fun to get to know them and to be introduced to the Interfood family in that way.

About your job at Interfood, what does your average working week look like?
That is a question that is probably very difficult to answer for anyone at Interfood. Not a day, not a week, not a month is the same. As a trade company, we need to be flexible and keen on opportunities that arise in the market. Besides monitoring the day-to-day operations, there are always multiple projects that need attention.

What do you like the most about your job?
What I like most about my job is to see my team excel in their work. I am very ambitious for myself, as well as for my team members. Our willingness to learn and develop new skills, and to see that the whole Interfood organization is constantly improving, is a great motivation for me.

How about your work-life balance?
Under current COVID-19 restrictions, it is challenging to find a good balance between work and free time with my laptop and notes always within reach. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone back in the office again. My kids have said they are very happy since I started at Interfood, as they notice a positive change with me not working 24/7. On the other hand, I am not allowed to brag anymore about the great food we get served every day…

How important is it for your team to work together with other departments?
It is essential to work closely with other departments. In order to provide the best service to our customers and suppliers, we need to involve all colleagues in the Interfood chain. We are all specialists in our own field, but the common goal needs to be the same. By sharing information and knowledge we can provide custom-made solutions, we are able to monitor profitability, and we can provide the additional service which is key as a trading company.

Finally, what would you say to potential new team members?
Interfood is a great company to work for and a challenging place to develop your potential. You can experience the benefits of a young team, with fresh and innovative ideas. Combined with traditional values and attention for the person behind the nametag.
