Transport Coordinator
Your role
As Transport Coordinator at Interfood, you will be responsible for managing U.S. domestic or Mexico transport volume, from order booking to final delivery—including warehouse-to-customer, supplier-to-warehouse, and warehouse-to-warehouse (WH to WH) shipments. You will oversee full truckload movements, ensuring that dairy products such as butter, cheese, and milk powders are delivered on time and in full.
In this critical role, you will serve as the central point of contact for trucking transport activities and collaborate closely with the Planning team. Your coordination skills, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to operational excellence will help ensure smooth execution and satisfied partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Full Transport Scope: Coordinate trucking transport volume, including direct shipments and WH to WH transfers, across Interfood’s network within the US and Mexico.
- Shipment Execution: Plan and manage full truckload (FTL) shipments from booking to on-time delivery for products including butter, cheese, and milk powders. Understand the demands of the customers to meet their needs and as per discussed with the planning team.
- Carrier Planning & Scheduling: Build and maintain weekly transportation schedules with contract carriers and spot providers.
- Live Monitoring & Issue Resolution: Actively monitor shipments, provide real-time updates, and resolve any delivery delays, carrier issues, or accessorial complications.
- Primary Contact for Carriers: Serve as the go-to liaison for all logistics service providers, handling planning updates, ongoing shipment communication, and documentation needs.
- WH to WH Coordination: Manage all warehouse-to-warehouse transport movements, ensuring stock transfers are executed timely and accurately.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with Planning, Procurement, and the operation team to ensure the transportation plan supports broader operational goals.
- Transport Cost Management: Track and record accessorial charges (e.g., detention, layovers, weekend surcharges) and assist with freight cost validation.
- Carrier Relationship Management: Maintain and build relationships with transport providers, including routine performance check-ins and service reviews.
- Spot Capacity Procurement: Source capacity for irregular or urgent lanes as needed.
- Process & System Improvement: Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement to identify operational bottlenecks and implement improvements to optimize cost, service, and reliability.
