Lactose
Lactose market starts to feel a bit weaker

Europe
Suppliers are starting to experience pressure
The EU lactose market feels a bit weaker with the trading range going down to EUR 1000-1100 ex works. There seems to be more supply than demand and the buyside therefore feels more relaxed than in previous months. There is still demand that needs to be filled in before the end of the year, but the big buyers are comfortable enough to wait.
Americas
US origins are getting less competitive compared to EU product
US prices remain around USD 0.50/lb (1100/t) ex works and the market still feels tight although the trade still has product. Demand is slow, both domestically and internationally with Chinese and Latin American buyers holding off. Internationally, the competitive balance appears to be changing slowly with EU prices sliding and freight rates out of the EU being a bit more favorable.
